Porsche Cars North America is recalling more than 50,000 Cayenne sport utility vehicles over issues with fuel filters.
Porsche has determined that through extended use over the life of the vehicle, fine hairline cracks could develop in the flange of the fuel pump filter. If that happens, a small quantity of fuel might seep out, which would result in a noticeable fuel odour around the vehicle.
The recall affects 50,145 Cayennes from 2003 through 2006 model years. Affected owners will be asked to attend a Porsche dealership, where the fuel filter flange will be replaced in a procedure PCNA expects will take about an hour and a half to complete.
