Production of the long-awaited, all-new 2015 Ford Mustang has begun at Ford's Flat Rock, Michigan assembly plant south of Detroit. The car was revealed in six cities world-wide last December.

Sales of the lnew Mustang begin this fall in North America and expand to more than 120 countries next year, including more than 25 right-hand drive markets.

“Mustang is and will continue to be an automotive icon,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of The Americas. “Expanding its availability globally affords our customers around the world the opportunity to have a true firsthand Mustang experience – one unlike any other.”

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the original Mustang, in April 2014, each 2015 model will feature a badge on the instrument panel with a galloping pony logo and the words “Mustang – Since 1964.”

As was the case for that original, Ford says there is a Mustang to fit any lifestyle.

In addition to a new structure and design, the new model offers three available powerplants  - an upgraded 5.0-litre V-8, a 3.7-litre V-6 and an all-new 2.3-litre Eco
