Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is adding opulence to the Ram brand with the most luxurious pickup ever, the Ram Limited Tungsten Edition.
Among its features, the truck industry’s first use of a suede headliner, Natura Plus Frost and Indigo leather seats and touch surfaces, and genuine wood trim all over. Outside, there’s a new sport hood, body colour pieces to create that premium look, and tungsten grille.
“The new Tungsten Edition is an example of how Ram directly responds to customer input by offering the industry’s most luxurious pickup,” said Mike Manley, Head of Ram Brand, FCA – Global. “Premium truck buyers will recognize the attention to detail, surrounded by quality materials.”
Over the nine years since Ram was launched as a standalone brand, truck buyers (and heavy-duty truck buyers, in particular) have grown the luxury truck market with their desire to have luxury-class amenities and materials without giving up on the hard-working capabilities that can’t be had in a luxury car.
Applied to the Ram pickup, records show that 40% of the Ram 3500 Heavy Duty sales are in one of the brand’s three luxury trim levels.
Tungsten slots in above the Limited level, expanding on the latter’s features-list with, in addition to the items listed above, Indigo carpet with rubber floormats and snap-out Frost and Indigo fabric inserts, satin finished wheels borrowed from Limited (as is the “R-A-M” grille design), black surround around the headlights (borrowed from the Sport model), and R-A-M lettering across the tailgate.
The truck will come in Bright Silver Metallic, Bright White, Brilliant Black Crystal, Delmonico Red Pearl, Granite Crystal Metallic, Maximum Steel Metallic (1500 only), Pearl White and True Blue Pearl.
Functional features include an air suspension (on the 1500), 8.4-inch touchscreen for audio and navigation, remote start, rearview camera, power adjustable pedals with memory setting, heated leather steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and Rambox on the select Heavy Duty bed.
Available in 1500, 2500 and 3500 (including duallies), Crew Cab or Mega Cab, short and long-wheelbase models, in rear-wheel or 4-wheel drive, the 2018 Ram Limited Tungsten Edition will go on sale in fall 2017.
