The Scion xB is going out on a “special” note with the 686 Parklan Edition, created in partnership with outdoors apparel company 686 Technical Apparel.
A Scion original, the xB will be taken out of production after the 2015 model year.
“The xB has been part of Scion from the very beginning and we wanted to give it a meaningful send-off,” said Scion Vice President Andrew Gilleland. “What better way to do that than to partner with 686, which caters to people who live their lives to the fullest? Whether it’s used on the streets or the slopes, this xB will become a classic.”
The 2015 xB 686 Parklan Edition will be painted up in an exclusive Cocoa Bean Metallic, subtly accented with red to capture the 686 brand, with blacked out mirrors, door handles, rear license plate surround and Scion badges.
Power is provided by the 158-hp 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine with variable valve timing, and distributed to the front wheels by a four-speed automatic. It rides on 16-inch gloss-black alloy wheels with a stamped red 686 wheel centre logo. Inside, the roomy xB interior is cloaked in a durable cubist camouflage fabric meant to reflect the 686 design influence.
The interior also features all-weather floor and cargo area mats, and zippered pockets in the front seatbacks and driver’s side seat cushion. A custom fit INNO cargo box is also available, as is a roof rack system.
“Before we designed this car, we took an xB on a three-week road trip from California to Boston,” said Brent Sandor, 686 Director of Marketing. “By taking the car from the city to the mountains and back again, we learned the xB can handle adverse conditions inside and out. With a cargo box on top and all-weather floor and cargo mats on the inside, it was the perfect inspiration for our special edition collaboration.”
