A trio of Mitsubishi vehicles are back in black — they’ve been too long; they’re glad to be back — returning to Canadian showrooms after a year’s absence.
The Black Edition package was last sold in Canada in the 2017 model year, available on Lancer and RVR. This year the package returns on the 2019 RVR, and will also be available on Eclipse Cross and Outlander models.
The models stand out from the rest of their respective lineups with the combination of 18-inch alloy wheels painted black, bold black exterior and interior details, and a signature Black Edition badge.
Individually, the 2019 RVR SE Black Edition features the 2.4-litre, MIVEC 4-cylinder engine mated to the Sportronic-Continuously-Variable Transmission (CVT), adding just $1,000 to the price of the SE LTD, on which it is based.
It adds Labrador Black exterior paint, front black skid plates, red stitched faux-suede appointed seats and aluminum pedals. The RVR SE Black Edition also gets new technology add-ons — Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), turn signals integrated into the side mirrors and keyless entry and ignition.
Based on the Outlander SE AWC Touring, the 2019 Outlander SE Black Edition is offered exclusively in Labrador Black, with black front and rear skid plates, black grille accents and door garnish, black roof rails outside and black headliner inside, power liftgate, and LED headlamps and fog lights. Like the others, its premium is $1,000 over the Outlander SE AWC Touring Package.
Painted up in Tarmac Black, the 2019 Eclipse Cross SE Black Edition uses the SE S-AWC model as its base, meaning it gets Mitsubishi’s Super All-Wheel Control all-wheel drive system. In addition to the black alloy wheels, it counts black roof rails, silver door garnish, LED headlamps, a heated steering wheel and heated seats all around for its $1,000 premium over the SE S-AWC price.
