2017 Ford Explorer

Ford is recalling about 340,000 Ford Explorers to deal with seat frames with sharp edges.

The recall affects 2017 Explorers that may have improperly coined front power-seat frames that may cut people reaching in between the seat and centre console. The company is aware of 31 cases related to the issue.

Of the potentially affected vehicles, 311,907 are in the US and federalized territories, 23,380 are in Canada and 3,045 are in Mexico.

Dealers will tape over the exposed edges of the inboard seat frames with flocked tape, and the company is advising customers to use extreme caution when reaching in between the seat and console until the repair is complete.
