2018 Ford Mustang GT Convertible

A sleeker new Mustang convertible for 2018 has broken cover on its tour of 50 regional shows across the country before ending up in showrooms in Fall 2017.

Besides the more athletic stance (including refined aerodynamics, and leaner and meaner front and rear end designs), the most advanced Mustang convertible features a host of enhancements including more choices that will allow buyers to personalize their new purchases. Among them, three new exterior colours, 12 distinct wheel choices and a customizable 12-inch digital instrument cluster.

Other new technologies include a “MyMode” memory function that remembers driving preferences for the next time the driver gets behind the wheel. The new convertible also features driving aids such as Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection.

Performance enhancements include more powerful engine choices and a new MagneRide suspension to improve ride and deliver better handling manners.

The base engine is the 2.3-litre EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine, which has had its overboost technology uniquely calibrated for Mustang, with torque increased for wide-open throttle acceleration. The GT uses the iconic 5.0-litre V-8, which has been thoroughly reworked to rev higher, provide more power and torque, and improve fuel efficiency, thanks to the first application of Ford’s new dual-fuel, high-pressure direct injection and low-pressure port fuel injection on a V-8.

Both can be linked with an available 10-speed automatic and can be fitted with an optional active valve exhaust to provide a sportier engine note when desired.
