Toyota is paying homage to its international racing heritage, as well as to one of the greatest driving roads in the world, with the Hakone Edition of the Toyota 86.
Based on the GT trim level, the special 86 Hakone Edition is named after the Hakone Turnpike, a famous 20-km stretch of twisty road located about 100 km southwest of Tokyo.
Available in Fall 2019 as a 2020 model year coupe, it is differentiated from the regular 86 with Hakone green exterior with a black spoiler, riding over 17-inch twisted spoke bronze wheels. Other features include LED projector headlamps and foglamps, body-colour mirrors and chrome exhaust tips.
The interior is done up in tan leather and black Alcantara, with the colour scheme stretching to instrument panel (embroidered Toyota 86 logo in tan), sliding centre armrest (tan trimmed and black stitched), and steering wheel, shift boot and parking brake cover (black with tan stitching). Other standards include climate control, heated seats, smart key system with push-button start, and remote keyless entry with 2-stage unlock.
The 86 Hakone Edition package also comes with a pair of tan driving gloves and a folio cover with a debossed 86 logo and black stitching.
Power comes from the Subaru boxer 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine (205 hp and 156 lb-ft), reined in by a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic (in which case it makes 200 hp and 151 lb-ft).
