Porsche’s Macan stable is now complete, with the introduction of the sportiest member of the line — the GTS.
Power for the new model comes from a 2.9-litre biturbo V-6 (producing 375 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque), which is linked to a uniquely adapted PDK dual-clutch automatic. It can also add the Sport Chrono package to push acceleration to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and attain a top speed of 261 km/h.
The compact crossover is lowered 25 mm (about an inch) and rides on 20-inch RS Spyder Design satin gloss black wheels. Ride and handling come courtesy of Porsche’s air suspension, which includes Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) damping control that that has been specially tuned to Macan’s handling needs. Large cast iron brake rotors (pinched by red calipers) can be swapped out for tungsten carbide coated discs or ceramic composites.
Visually, the new Macan GTS features new front, side and rear trim, with striking black elements up front (including darkened headlights) and rear (black diffuser and tailpipes, and darkened brakelights).
The interior features Alcantara on the 8-way adjusted leather sport seats, centre console armrests and door trims, and brushed aluminum trim. Personalized features include Carmine Red or Chalk leather stitching, Bose surround sound system and wireless charging pad for smartphones, as well as safety and comfort features such as surround view cameras, heated windshield and air ionizer.
Pricing starts at $77,100, with deliveries starting in summer 2020.
