Nissan plans to put two of its electric LEAF cars on the road during the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 7 and 8 to offer free taxi rides to attendees.
Prospective passengers are required to tweet their intended destination and use the hashtag #LEAFTAXI.
The zero-emissions, lithium-ion battery-powered Leaf features a 107-hp engine with 207 lb.-ft. of torque; it offers seating for four.
Marketing folk at Nissan say TIFF and their Leaf are a good fit because the stylish electric offers sufficient chic to fit in at the cosmopolitan event.
The Leafs will be based in the Entertainment District and go as far north as Dundas, east as York, west as Bathurst and south as Front. The professionally driven cars will be on the road at 8 p.m. until 1 a.m. both nights.
