Mercedes-AMG plans to present two new high-performance models, the S 65 AMG and the SLS AMG GT Final Edition, simultaneously at the Los Angeles Auto Show and the Tokyo Motor Show (both of which run from November 20 to December 1, 2013).
S 65 AMG
"The S 65 AMG stands for maximum exclusiveness and the unparalleled dynamism of a V-12," says Tobias Moers, chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG.
With 12 cylinders, two turbochargers, 630 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque, the new S 65 AMG is said to outperform all other models in its segment.
According to the company, it can accelerate from 0-to-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, and reach an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h.
With fuel consumption of 11.9 L/100 km (NEDC combined), it s also said to be the world's most fuel-efficient V12 high-performance ssedan.
SLS AMG GT Final Edition
"With the SLS AMG GT Final Edition we are showing an ultimate, particularly attractive variant of our super sports car," says Moers.
The Final Edition model, to be built in a limited run of just 350 units, represents the last opportunity for customers to order a SLS AMG.
It also celebrates the success of the first vehicle to be completely built by Mercedes-AMG.
With its 591-horsepower AMG 6.3-litre V-8 front-mid engine, the SLS AMG has been an icon of the Mercedes-Benz brand since its introduction in 2009.
Multiple variants have been added subsequently, now including the gullwing coupe, roadster, GT, Black Series and an electric drive model.
