By now most enthusiasts are familiar with the Polestar versions of popular Volvo vehicles, improving performance to levels in keeping with what M does for BMWs and NISMO does for Nissans.
Now, Polestar has announced a new line of high-performance products called, appropriately, Polestar Performance Parts. The line includes a wide range of enhancements for the S60 sedan, V40 and V60 wagons, and the XC60 sport utility, but that’s just the start of it. More pieces for other vehicles will be developed and added to the catalogue.
“We have received strong feedback over a long period of time from customers all over the world regarding Polestar Performance Parts,” said Niels Möller, Chief Operating Officer of Polestar. “We are delighted to be able to meet the demand, starting from today. This is a product improving on the already strong base of Volvo cars in terms of performance, handling and driving pleasure.”
Polestar Performance Parts are designed under the philosophy “Made to Perform,” drawing on the 20-year motorsport experience of engineers and racing drivers from Polestar and its motorsport partner Cyan Racing.
“The secret of our success on the tracks is in creating balanced and precise cars that are predictable for the driver to control in all situations,” said Henrik Fries, R&D Director of Polestar. “Lessons learned on the tracks are transferred directly into the development of our road cars and performance products. The new range of Polestar Performance Parts is no exception – they are designed and developed with the very same philosophy.”
The catalogue includes chassis parts, wheels, exhaust, interior trim such as door sills, and exterior cosmetic and functional details such as spoilers and diffusors, among others. They can be purchased as complete packages — chassis parts, wheels and tyres, intake and exhaust, as well as exterior and interior parts — that will create a more compelling driving experience, especially in combination with the Polestar Performance Optimisation, or they can be bought separately.
All Polestar Performance Parts are developed and tested together with Volvo vehicles to ensure perfect fit and finish, without impacting the Volvo factory warranty. They will be available in participating Volvo dealers in April 2016.
